API TERMS OF USE
“Engineered access for programmatic relays, autonomous aggregators, and institutional partners.”
These API Terms of Use ("API Terms") govern all access to and interaction with the application programming interfaces, software development kits (SDKs), cryptographic proving endpoints, developer tools, documentation, keys, and WebSocket telemetry (collectively, the "Vellum API" or "API") provided by Vellum Cash ("Vellum," "we," "us," or "our").
By generating an API key, calling an endpoint, or integrating Vellum SDKs into your client software, you agree to be bound by these API Terms, the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Anti-Money Laundering Policy.
§ 2. Grant of Access & Nature of Service
[LICENSE GRANT]Subject to your compliance with these API Terms, Vellum grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access the Vellum API solely to query rates, generate ephemeral conduits, track proof statuses, and submit zero-knowledge transaction envelopes.
The Vellum API is a programmatic interface to smart contracts and decentralized relayers. The API never custody user private keys. Programmatic integrators are exclusively responsible for client-side transaction signing and key management.
§ 3. Personal Access (Default Tier)
[DEFAULT TIER]Personal Access is granted for non-commercial research, personal algorithmic trading, and software evaluation. Personal Access is subject to rate limiting (e.g. 10 requests per minute), standard queue priority, and does not permit sub-licensing or white-label commercial distribution.
§ 4. Upgraded Access & Partner Approval
[PARTNER TIER]Commercial entities, multi-chain bridge aggregators, and institutional liquidity routers must apply for Partner Access by submitting formal documentation to partners@vellum.cash. Vellum reserves absolute discretion to grant, deny, tier, or revoke Partner Access based on security posture, compliance alignment, and network capacity.
§ 5. Partner Obligations & Mandatory Disclosures
[PARTNER COMPLIANCE]5.1 Commercial Use & Corporate Standing
Partners must operate in full compliance with all applicable financial, anti-money laundering, and sanctions regulations in all jurisdictions where their service is offered.
5.2 Mandatory End User Disclosure
Every Partner integrating Vellum into a public or commercial interface MUST explicitly disclose to its End Users that:
- Settlements are powered by the Vellum decentralized zero-knowledge protocol.
- Transactions are subject to Vellum's Terms of Service and Anti-Money Laundering Policy.
- Once proof commitments are verified on-chain, settlements are irreversible.
5.3 Partner's Independent KYC/AML Compliance
Partners are solely responsible for conducting required Know Your Customer (KYC) and transaction monitoring on their End Users. Partners shall never knowingly route transactions from sanctioned persons or illicit origins through Vellum endpoints.
§ 6. General Restrictions (All Tiers)
[RESTRICTIONS]You agree that you will not, nor will you permit any third party to:
- Bypass, disable, or circumvent API rate limits, authentication tokens, or geoblocking filters.
- Scrape, harvest, or crawl Vellum endpoints for competitive intelligence or indexing.
- Inject malformed proof structures designed to cause buffer overflows or panic in relayer node workers.
- Misrepresent your identity, impersonate Vellum officials, or create deceptive wrapper interfaces.
- Use the API in any manner that infringes on third-party intellectual property or violates criminal laws.
§ 7. API Keys & Credential Security
[KEY HYGIENE]API Keys are strictly confidential. You are solely responsible for securing your credentials. Any API request authenticated with your API Key will be deemed authorized by you. In the event of suspected key compromise, notify security@vellum.cash immediately to trigger key revocation.
§ 8. AML, Risk Controls & Relayer Telemetry
[RISK CONTROLS]Vellum reserves the right to monitor programmatic traffic and transaction hashes to detect exploit signatures, sanctions violations, and anomalous traffic spikes. If a Partner conduit is identified as routing funds from known smart contract hacks or terror organizations, Vellum will terminate the API Key immediately and freeze routing without notice.
§ 9. Intellectual Property Rights
[IP & BRAND]Vellum and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Vellum API, Circom zero-knowledge circuit implementations, specifications, documentation, and the Vellum Cash wordmark and logos. Open-source components are governed by their respective public repository licenses.
§ 10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
[WARRANTY EXCLUSION]Under no circumstances shall Vellum or its relayer node maintainers be liable for lost profits, blockchain network congestion, gas price spikes, execution slippage, or API outages.
§ 11. Indemnification & Partner Liability
[INDEMNITY]You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Vellum, its developers, relayer operators, and affiliates against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, or regulatory fines arising out of or related to: (1) your use of the Vellum API; (2) your breach of these API Terms; (3) disputes involving your End Users; or (4) your failure to comply with applicable AML/KYC regulations.
§ 12. Suspension, Termination & General Terms
[TERMINATION]Vellum reserves the right to suspend or terminate your API access, revoke API keys, or throttle bandwidth at any time, with or without prior notice, for breach of these Terms, operational safety, or regulatory orders.
